Checking on the Garden

As I walked outside this afternoon, the birds were singing loudly, welcoming the sun after a cold night and chili October morning. I walked into the back yard and approached the garden gate while dragonflies were fluttering about all over the garden. Just behind the green beans a rabbit scurried away outside the fence, while two deer slowly strolled by in the meadow behind us.

Though the cucumbers had given all they had to give, and the potatoes were quietly curing inside the house, the cherry tomatoes were still ripening, and a few chamomile flowers were opened wide facing the sun.

On my way back to the house, I checked on the praying mantis egg sack which was safely tucked into the lemon grass leaves. As I walked into the house, the symphony of joyful birds was still playing strong.

All is well in the garden.
